Americans did not realize the extent of anti-Semitism until after the war, generally didn't realize that the holocaust was occurring. We fought with the Allies against fascism not because we wanted to punish Nazis for what they did to the Jews or their other 'undesirables' but because we did not want to face a united fascist Europe. I think we did right. I think the horrors of the holocaust example an easily recognizable worse case. There are all too many horrible examples, and none of them have anything to do with Nation
