Anti-Nazi, Racism contest entry – Justifiedheretic (Thefreedomfighters)

His blood spilled across the floor, casting its red against the concrete floor.
“See, I bleed the same color as you! We are no different, why should skin make any difference?” John yelled as he cut his finger with his pocket-knife.
Tears streamed down his face as he pleaded with his schoolmates to understand his view. Being born in Korea, John was of Asian descent, and having been adopted by a South Carolinian family, John was used to being treated equally until he entered high school. It was grade nine when the first incident occurred, on his way home from school John was attacked from behind and hit over the head receiving a slight concussion. From that time forward John was cautious as to what he would do or say around others, always being afraid and living in fear of their actions.
“Why can’t you see, skin color, race, it makes no different, we are all human beings, we bleed the same blood, we break the same bones, we think with the same minds, why can’t you understand that skin color, race, religion, they only add to the unique qualities of humanity, they only make us individual, and in this we can become brothers and sisters, regardless of skin color, race or creed, please I beg you, just listen!” John continued to plead, fearing for his life as the group surrounded him, closing a circle around him.
John’s adopted parents had always taught him that where you came from is a large part of who you are and you should never be ashamed of that. “Humanity is diverse, and God’s love was made to encompass humanity in all its diversity, regardless of color.” In those words John always sought comfort when all hope was fleeting.
With blood trickling slowly from his finger, John applied pressure trying his hardest to open the minds of the group around him. John continued to plead, for his life, for his humanity.
“Stop! Guy’s don’t touch him, it isn’t right. He’s right…he’s right, our colors don’t matter, neither does our religion or heritage, we are all humans, created in God’s love, to love one another…please don’t touch him.” A voice from inside the mob arose, a voice that was quickly silenced…for how long it was unknown, with a crack and the sound of a body hitting the floor, the voice dimmed, his words always falling on deaf ears.
John made one last plea for hope, for life, for dignity as the mob grew larger and closer.
“Please you must understand, I have done nothing to you, I’ve gone to school with you since we started school, I’ve been your friend, I’ve been your teammates, I’ve been your shoulder to cry on, please why this aggression?” John calmly spoke, desperately trying to maintain his usual composure.
“You just don’t get it do you? Your people are threatening our country with nuclear war, and we don’t put up with that shit hear in the U.S.A. We don’t tolerate your kind of shit here.”
“They are not my people; I am an American Citizen, their actions are not what I believe in, I am not them.”
“As long as you bear the same skin color as them, you are them.” With that John’s flames was snuffed forever as his own pocketknife was plunged into his chest by an unnamed assailant. Forever continuing the hateful pattern, where ignorance breeds, hate looms, enveloping mans thoughts. We must change this pattern….we must…for the sake of children like John.

* I have a 13 year old cousin who was adopted from a family in South Korea; she is currently living in Raleigh, South Carolina. We are close and recently I have been receiving calls from my Aunt and herself about racism directed towards her which was the inspiration for this story. The quote from John’s mother, is a direct quote from my Aunt, a very wise woman, who along with myself believes that God’s love makes no distinction between race, creed or color…we are all his children, we are all brothers and sisters, we are all human….Stop Racism…color the world.

It just goes to show how ignorant some people can be, esp. since it's North Korea that has the nukes.

Beautiful piece.
